Going the Extra Mile
By Karen Mills
Last month, I talked about how good stewards' actions come from the heart without expecting anything in return personally. Being that listening ear for someone who needs a friend or helping a physically challenged person open a door are good examples of "Random Acts of Kindness". The beginning step for stewardship is kindness. Next, is to go the "Extra Mile" and put it into action to make a difference.
There are 3 members of our parish have are going the extra mile! Caroline, Claire and Andrew Kutchka have already started working on the Carnival auction! They came up with the idea of writing to Catholic celebrities to send autographed items to put in the auction so that they could raise money for their parish and all the ministries within their parish. These children have mailed nearly 100 letters and some of the items that have been received include an autographed script from the West Wing with a photo of Martin Sheen. Even Regis Philbin came through with an autographed photo! These little stewards are expecting nothing in return for themselves, only the hope that these Catholic celebrities will be good stewards of their success and reach out to the Catholic Community. If you know any Catholic celebrities and their contact information, please send them to me at ctkdev@christ-king.org and I will make sure that the Kutchka Kids send them a letter!
Thank you Claire, Caroline and Andrew! Little Leah Kutchka did ask if there was a mailbox in Heaven, so she's working on this project too!
As these kids have gone the "Extra Mile" and provided us all with a great example, see if YOU can go the "Extra Mile" and put stewardship into action?
